History
The company was founded on 07/01/1997, is embedded in a history steeped in tradition and has a solid foundation. It was a spin-off of the food company Dr. Otto Suwelack Nachf. GmbH & Co. KG, which, as a freeze-drying pioneer, began developing the freeze-drying of collagen biomatrices as early as 1982. Freeze-drying preserves the natural properties of the biomaterial and means that preservatives are not required.
Since 1989, the manufacture and sales of collagen biomatrices for cosmetic applications have been being systematically expanded and this has been a roaring success, particularly in Asia (Japan). All activities were transferred to Dr. Suwelack Skin & Health Care AG in 1997 in order to better tap the growth potential of this demanding market segment - including medical products for wound healing.
In 1999, the construction of a factory with large-scale capacities for biomatrices was completed in accordance with pharma standards and the first medical product was launched on the market.
