MATRICOL®
Application and effect
How does MATRICOL® work on the skin?
MATRICOL® is activated by adding moisture. Together with components of the protein chains of collagen (amino acids, oligopeptides), this moisture and the cosmetic active ingredients penetrate the skin.
The application of MATRICOL® biomatrix onto the skin results in:
- Thorough moisturization and thus improved transport of substances into the skin, resulting in visible wrinkle reduction and remarkable improvement in skin texture
- Reduction of diffusion resistances in the skin so that collagen components and active ingredients can be more easily absorbed
- Binding of moisture to the skin's NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factors), amino acids and collagen oligopeptides
The biomatrix is capable of rapidly and effectively restoring the skin's natural balance:
- Irritated skin is calmed
- Skin redness is reduced
- Dry skin is hydrated
- Heat-stressed skin is cooled
- Skin with large pores is refined
Mobile cells of the immune system look for immunologically reactive substances on the skin's surface in order to trigger defense reactions. One special feature of MATRICOL® is its similarity to the skin's collagen. This means that defense reactions do not occur. Minor bleeding of the skin, which can occur after the removal of blemishes, is stopped by MATRICOL®.
The application of MATRICOL® thoroughly moisturizes the skin and ideally prepares it for subsequent intake of nutrients. The application of MATRICOL® on the skin cools, calms and stops minor bleeding. Because of these properties, MATRICOL® is highly recommended for the moisturizing and calming of extremely sensitive skin, e.g. after sunburn, exfoliating peels, epilation or microdermabrasion.
Are there side effects?
What can be used to moisten MATRICOL®?
Collagen is a special material produced by the body, and, is capable of absorbing and storing large quantities of water. That is why collagen is most compatible with water-based solutions.
In order to tailor a treatment to a customer´s particular skin condition, special activators can also be used containing additional cosmetic active ingredients, e.g.:
- Skin moisteners (polyols such as glycerine)
- Ionic additives (e.g. thermal water)
- Other active ingredients (antioxidants, skin calming agents, etc.)
Since MATRICOL® application is a hydro-treatment, the percentage of oil in the activator should be kept to an absolute minimum. Activators with a high percentage of oil or the use of emulsified liquids make the moistening (activation) of the biomatrix more difficult. When treating customers with sensitive skin, a non-irritating activator should be used, so further irritation is avoided.
MATRICOL® can absorb 30-times its own weight in liquid, and is directly supplied to the skin upon application. In order to activate the A4 format mask, 50-60 ml liquid is required. If the mask is not sufficiently moistened, it is unable to completely develop its effect and may shrivel up. Furthermore, the mask is easier to shape when sufficiently moistened. The effect of MATRICOL® is not impeded by too much moisture. However, any surplus liquid will drip from the mask if the mask is given more liquid than it can store.
How long does MATRICOL® remain on the skin?
Can MATRICOL® be used on people with neurodermatitis or other skin diseases?
Thanks to the hyperallergenic nature of MATRICOL®, this product can also be used on skins with psoriasis or other skin diseases.
